This photo by Mikko Luntiala of the escalators at the Sörnäinen metro station in Helsinki shows the aesthetics of the everyday. The station serves the central Helsinki districts of Sörnäinen and Kallio. It opened on September 1, 1984, and was designed by Jouko Kontio and Seppo Kilpiä. The 25-m-deep station is 3 m below sea level.
