Thyssenkrupp Elevator completed the installation of 22 elevators and six escalators at Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın City Hospital, which has been rebuilt within the scope of İstanbul Seismic Risk Mitigation and Emergency Preparedness Project (ISMEP) governed by Istanbul Project Coordination Unit, which is established under the Governorship of İstanbul.
Within the scope of the project, thyssenkrupp Elevator provided mobility solutions with the installation of six stretcher and two fire service elevators, five logistic elevators, one laboratory elevator, one emergency elevator with an access to the heliport and one morgue elevator. Previously known as Göztepe Training and Research Hospital, the hospital was given the name of Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yalçın, who made great contributions to Turkish medicine.
“We are proud to be a part of the project”
thyssenkrupp Elevator CEO Artuğ Özeren stated the company worked very hard for the project and said, “We are extremely happy to provide mobility solutions for the environmentally and energy-friendly hospital project rebuilt with earthquake-resistant seismic isolators within the scope of Istanbul emergency preparedness project. We have provided mobility solutions with 22 elevators and six escalators for the first phase of the hospital, which has a capacity of 758 beds within a closed area of 180,000 square meters. We have also installed two special-design elevators, which descend to the floor where the seismic isolators are placed at the event of an earthquake. Taking all protective measures through the pandemic period, we have continued working without stopping so that the hospital can be opened to service as soon as possible.”
Özeren also added that thyssenkrupp Elevator provided mobility solutions for several hospitals before, adding
“thyssenkrupp Elevator recently completed the mobility solutions of the Prof. Dr.Cemil Taşçıoğlu City Hospital. This is our second city hospital cooperation after the Cemil Taşçıoğlu project. Thanks to our many years of experience, we have completed the project smoothly and quickly, as we did with our other hospital project.”
