TASFED Opens Fourth Lift Academy in Gaziantep

TASFED opened the fourth Lift Academy, which it established within Gaziantep Abdülhamithan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, on May 31st with the leading members of the industry.

After the Turkish Elevator Industrialists’ Federation (TASFED) Academies in Ankara, Eskişehir and Kayseri, which it had previously completed within the scope of the protocol signed with the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education of the Ministry of National Education, the Federation opened the fourth TASFED Lift Academy within Gaziantep Abdülhamithan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School on May 31 with leading members of the industry and an excited celebration.

TASFED Education Committee Member Rasime Sazak, who was the first to take the stage at the opening ceremony, talked about the importance of the lift and escalator industry to the students in the hall and explained TASFED’s investments in education. Sazak stated that Gaziantep Abdülhamithan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Lift Academy, which is the latest of the lift academies built as a result of the protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education in 2018, installed four lifts with shaft constructions in an area of 100 m2. She said that there is also a cabin and two speed regulators. Two of the lifts at the academy were designed with machine rooms and two without machine rooms. In this way, students are able to learn about each type of lift they will encounter in the field.

District National Education Director Cemal Gülistan, who took the floor next, told the students about TASFED President Yusuf Atik’s struggle in the sector, which started with impossibilities but ended successfully, and thanked him for his services to Gaziantep.

School Principal Hülya Bozbey, who reached out to TASFED management to request the academy’s opening and made a great effort in this regard, said that they achieved this by working like a father and daughter with Yusuf Atik on this project. Bozbey said, “Our TASFED members from Ankara, Eskişehir and Kayseri worked with great dedication and effort. In particular, the efforts of Nuri Kuzan, who worked in Gaziantep for days during the establishment of the Academy are priceless.” Then, he expressed his endless gratitude to these generous-hearted business people.

TASFED Chairman Yusuf Atik, who took the stage last, thanked the TASFED members and said that he started this profession as an apprentice in 1965. Atik stated that, at that time, all the equipment came from abroad, and he started his business back then by looking at the components in the well and questioning why they could not be produced in Türkiye. He said, “The lift job is one of the best professions in the world. The most used mobility device in the world is a lift. Thus, I request teachers to make more efforts to gain young people to this sector.”

Deputy Principal M. İhsan Hamderi, School’s Music Teacher Ümit Çobanoğlu and TASFED Director Gülay Pala came on stage after the opening speeches and graced the opening with beautiful songs.

Following the opening speeches, Lift Academy was opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests and students closely examined the lift units installed at the academy and took a souvenir photograph at the school entrance.
