TES Dubai Finds Success

TES Dubai Finds Success

In mid-September, Elevator World, Inc. along with AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen, organiser of the world’s leading trade fair, interlift, hosted The Elevator Show (TES) Dubai. The inaugural event premiered nearly six years after it was initially conceived, much delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and all the restrictions and logistical complications that came with it. It proved well worth the wait, however, as, by all accounts, it was a resounding success. The trade fair served the ever-growing Middle East and North Africa market in a city that is accessible and business friendly. TES welcomed 110 exhibitors from 14 countries and 3,700 visitors from around the world.

It was exciting and humbling for EW to partner in organizing the inaugural TES Dubai, and we are so pleased that it is filling a real need in the sector and region. EW is very thankful to all the exhibitors and attendees and our partner, AFAG, for their trust in us. You can find full coverage of the 2024 event in A Warm Welcome by Angie C. Baldwin. We are already looking forward to and making plans for the next TES Dubai planned for 2026.

In this issue, our last of the year, we feature notable regional and international projects, events, market trends and more, including:

  • Making Elevator Engineering History submitted by AEEE. A meeting of the Association of Elevator and Escalator Engineering was held with the cooperation of the University of Applied Science and Technology, the Engineering System Organization and the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization in the presence of academic staff and industrialists at Koosha College of Applied Science and Technology in Tehran, Iran.
  • Up, Up and Away by Lindsay Fletcher. TK Elevator showcases major VT and airport gate support equipment project in the U.A.E.
  • A Remarkable Transformation submitted by Stannah. Stannah installs new lifts, including a firefighting lift with dedicated control features to aid fire and rescue service, in the landmark Asticus London Building.
  • Vast Potential by Dr. Malini Saba. “Made in India” VT provides a competitive advantage across domestic and international markets.
  • Finding Its Niche in Denmark by Kaija Wilkinson. MinElevator brings OEMs and customers together to provide elevators for Copenhagen’s old apartment buildings.
  • Accessibility for a Healthier Tomorrow by Shem Oirere. How a hospital boom in Morocco is driving the VT market.

We focus on Escalators and Moving Walks, with Escalator Brake Failure Investigation by Anthony Boom. Boom takes an expert look at what did and did not cause this escalator overspeed incident.

I close this year of EW Middle East by saying thank you for reading and staying engaged with us in so many ways, including through contributing articles, advertising and attending events, like TES. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your ideas in 2025.
