MAKTEK Eurasia Fair, organized by Tüyap Fair Organization in cooperation with the Association of Machine Tools Industrialists and Businessmen (TIAD) and the Association of Machinery Manufacturers (MIB), was held at Tüyap Fair and Congress Center on September 26-October 1.
With the participation of more than 1,000 companies and company representatives, MAKTEK was the largest MAKTEK Fair ever held, using the entire 120,000 m2 of the indoor exhibition area in 14 halls. According to the data announced by Tüyap Fair Organization Group, MAKTEK Eurasia hosted 2,000 foreign visitors from 89 countries and 79,000 professional visitors from 74 cities in Türkiye this year. Bringing together the leaders of the machine tools, metal — sheet metal processing machinery, grippers — cutting tools, quality control — measurement systems, CAD/CAM, PLM software and production technologies sectors, MAKTEK Eurasia saw a 40% increase in the number of visitors compared to 2018, and the diversity in the number of visitor countries also attracted attention. İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of Tüyap Fuarlar Yapım A.Ş., said: “As Tüyap Fair Organization Group, we are happy to have successfully organized MAKTEK Eurasia Fair once again. According to the results we obtained from the fair, all of our exhibitors realized the sales of all the machines they exhibited, and their total sales exceeded US$1.2 billion.”
Visitors Experienced Virtual Reality in Maktekverse Area
During the fair, visitors had the opportunity to experience virtual reality applications that stand out in the manufacturing industry in the Maktekverse experience area in Hall 13, organized in cooperation with Tekyaz. Sessions on the benefits of new technologies in this field in production were held. Panels, interviews and talks on topics of interest to visitors and participants were organized simultaneously on the stage located right next to this area. One of the highlights of the Maktekverse calendar was the session on “Contributions of Digital Transformation to Economy and Business Models” by technology communicator Dr. Sertaç Doğanay.
Open-Source Design Center and Collaboration Platform Project
Within the scope of the “Open-Source Design Center and Collaboration Platform Project” carried out by the Association of Machine Tools Industrialists and Businessmen (TİAD) with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency, the “Open Design Istanbul Industrial Design Competition” was organized to encourage industrial designers and industrialists to collaborate more. The winners were announced at the opening ceremony of MAKTEK Eurasia Fair on September 26. TRY 50,000 was awarded to the 1st prize winner, TRY 30,000 to the 2nd prize winner and TRY 20,000 to the 3rd prize winner with the sponsorship of MAKTEK Eurasia Fair and TÜYAP. On September 27, a conference on “The Added Value Created by Industrial Design in Industry” was held at the MAKTEK Eurasia Fair Event Area, with Frank Zierenberg, international project director of iF Forum Design, one of the most prestigious organizations in the field of industrial design; Atakan Akçay, CEO of Redon Teknoloji A.Ş.; Hakan Telışık, Design Studio manager of Hidromek A.Ş. Design Studio; and Fatih Varlık, chairman of TİAD, as speakers.
