The PESSRAE programmable electronic system

Safety codes require most commercial applications involving a lift height of greater than 60 in. to be installed in a shaft. The Lift Store USA’s new solution to this situation is the Highlander enclosed vertical platform lift from Harmar. The lifts can eliminate the time and cost required to modify existing structures. The commercial-grade lift is designed to meet ASME A18.1 safety standards. It has a 750-lb. weight capacity and includes such safety features as constant pressure controls, electromechanical interlocks on all doors and swing gates, a safety handrail and solid side panels.

The Highlander wheelchair lift is available in lift heights from 4-14 ft., can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications and come standard with full-steel enclosure panels. Other standard features include a full-height, flush-mounted bottom entrance door and a 42-in.-high top landing gate. Acrylic see-through panels are available as an option, as are various platform sizes and exits, three-stop packages that allow for multiple entrance/exit points on either side of the platform and a DC-motor upgrade to allow the lift to operate despite frequent power outages.

Pessrae Certified By SIL3

PESSRAE, developed by Shenyang Bluelight Automatic Technology Co., Ltd., passed accredited certification for Grade SIL3 in Beijing in late 2012. The PESSRAE programmable electronic system for safety-related applications for escalators and moving walks with Class IP53 protection is equipped with a high-level twin central processing unit (CPU) and safety relays with four gold-coated contacts from Germany. Development was based on EN 115: Safety Rules for the Construction and Installation of Escalators and Passenger Conveyors – GB 16899-2011.

The SIL3 PESSRAE is intended to provide greater performance than the widely applied Grade SIL1/2 protection systems in the elevator industry by reducing inefficacy rates by 90%, hence greatly reducing failure probability of the equipment. The twin CPU for vehicles is designed for higher reliability of safety-related systems. With its self-diagnosis function, it runs a continuous check on the bus, random-access memory and flash, reports two-digit faults and corrects one-digit faults in flash on its own, and has working stability against electromagnetic interference.

Escalator safety issues have become a focus of public attention in recent years, and the new edition of GB 16899-2011 outlines new safety requirements for escalators and moving walks. The product helps safeguard the operation of escalators and moving walks in the future.
