The Photographer’s Eye

Only a few EW Photo Contest entries took prizes, but they all revealed artistry behind the camera.

There’s no denying that the winning entries of the ELEVATOR WORLD Fifth Annual Photo Contest (EW, August 2017) were deserving of their accolades. Each photographer demonstrated an artistic eye, capturing images that presented thoughtful framing, uncanny use of color and light, and an instinctive notion of what makes a great photograph. They were winners in every sense of the word.

Judges and the voting public had a difficult time choosing which were the best, but with nearly 200 entries and only seven categories, decisions had to be made. That said, many of the photographs not selected were compelling in their own right and should by no means be considered “also-rans.” Presented in these pages are some of the best of the rest.

EW expresses its appreciation for the entries and the nearly 3,200 online voters, and invites all to submit their photographs for next year’s contest, which is open for entries at www.elevatorworld.com/photocontest.
