Great music, food and friendship distinguish 10th annual event.
The 10th Annual Toronto Harbour Boat Cruise set sail on August 16 with a boatload of more than 100 industry mates. While the forecast called for rain and thunderstorms, it was only wet in the water, and only the boom of laughter could be heard.
Guests made their way to 207 Queens Quay West, where The Showboat was docked at the Mariposa Cruise Line terminal to be ready to board at 6:30 p.m. Evoking the spirit of an Old South paddleboat, the recently renovated Showboat boasts an all-season main deck and large picture windows from which to view the ever-changing scenery.
Great music, food and friendship were enjoyed by all as the ship made its way around Toronto Island. Guests enjoyed glorious views of the CN Tower, the Rogers Centre (home of the Toronto Blue Jays) and all the Toronto skyscrapers with their wonderful elevators. Adam Rypstra of Direct Elevator was the lucky winner of the night, winning almost CAD$500 (US$380) in the 50/50 draw.
This year’s boat cruise was hosted by the Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA). The approximately CAD$10,000 (US$7,598) that was raised from the cruise has been set aside for elevator and escalator safety. Special thanks to all our sponsors: Alcor Elevator Ltd., AVT Beckett, GAL Canada, K Elevator Cabs, Wurtec, Adams Elevator, EHC Global, Rapley & Co., Formula Systems North America and MEI — Total Elevator Solutions. Be sure to join us next year for another great night!
