The DMC was a microprocessor controller manufactured by TK Elevator when the company was known as Dover Elevator. Once recognized as an innovative and reliable marvel of engineering, this control system is now more than 35 years old and needs to be upgraded.[1] Enter Vantage Elevation, which introduced its RENEW DMCTM hydraulic elevator modernization package during the 73rd Annual National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) Convention & Exposition in September 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky. Vantage is well-known for its over-the-top, fun NAEC parties, but the company took it to the next level last year by welcoming Joseph Ward Simmons, better known by the stage names Run, Rev. Run or DJ Run,[2] as the party’s featured entertainer. In the early 1980s, Simmons was one of three founding members of Run-DMC, which rose to international fame from humble beginnings in Hollis, Queens. They were the first rappers to have a gold album (Run-D.M.C. (1984)), and the first rap act to appear on MTV.[3] Vantage party organizers noticed the similarities between its new, major product and the name of the iconic rapper, so they hired him to DJ the party. Rev. Run’s performance was certainly a highlight of an NAEC event filled with music (including an impressive performance of “Sweet Home Alabama” by accomplished guitarists Don Gelestino of Champion Elevator and Lucas Kairdolf of Clarkson + Varick elevator consultants). The rap icon even took time to hang out with elevator folk, including team members from Vantage and Dynasty Elevator, after the show. “It was a great party full of great people, great food and a great DJ performance by Rev. Run!” John Mezzo, president of Dynasty Elevator, said.
