YouTuber Builds Cat Elevator

Frodo

What do you do when your cat isn’t as mobile as he used to be? Build him an elevator. YouTuber Liam Thompson did just that for his almost 20-year-old cat Frodo, according to an article by AV Club.

When Frodo was unable to continue his daily routine of walking down the stairs to lie in a patch of sun in the backyard, Thompson got to work building him an elevator, which took four days. A video on his channel documented the process. He made the track by attaching two sliding door rails to pieces of wood. He attached the cart to the track and powered the elevator with an electric hoist. After a successful test run using a stuffed animal in place of Frodo, Thompson made a few changes to increase safety and “pretty-ness”, which included painting the lift blue.

Finally, it was time for Frodo to test it out. Thompson loaded the cat into the cart and filmed as Frodo went down, not at all fazed by his new machine. Frodo was then able to reach his favorite sunny spot in the backyard.

“This is the greatest day of my life!” Thompson exclaimed excitedly. “Well, if you ask me, my friends, that is a great success.”
