The EEA is a European interest grouping created in October 1990 by several elevator companies in the European Union. It now has 137 members. EEA decided in 2002 to join the European Lift Association (ELA) regrouping all lift and escalator associations in Europe, to speak with one voice to the European Commission and other international organizations.

Responsibilities: The main purpose of the Association is to make the built environment totally accessible by preparing standards and following legislation and promoting the quality and safety of equipment and services related to elevators, freight lifts & escalators.
Representation: Open to all companies exercising an activity related to elevators, freight lifts, escalators, passenger conveyors and associated systems manufactured, installed or maintained in the enlarged European Union and the European Free Trade Area.
