On the heels of completing a six-lift project for Larvotto Beach in the Principality of Monaco, Italy’s Maspero Elevatori has been awarded a EUR3.8-million (US$4.4-million) contract to provide 24 lifts for Monaco’s new Mareterra District, a 152,000-m2 seafront project conceived as a “tribute to the Mediterranean” that will “integrate perfectly with the profile of the coasts as a natural extension of the territory.” Like Larvotto Beach, Mareterra was conceived by famed architect Renzo Piano, who worked with Valode & Pistrie Architectes and Michel Desvigne’s Landscape Studio on the design of the new district. Described as futuristic and ecofriendly, Mareterra will include a small harbor, a swimming pool, luxury apartments and public space stretching from Port Hercule to Larvotto Beach. It will be served by 24 Maspero Koala line machine-room-less elevator systems — including two panoramic — with capacities that range from 450 to 1600 kg.
