TK Elevator (TKE) is modernizing six elevators at the historic ALICO office building in Waco, Texas, a 111-year-old, 282-ft-tall structure that was once the tallest U.S. building west of the Mississippi River, TKE announced on June 30. Surviving an F5 tornado in the 1950s and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, the ALICO Building is owned and operated by the American-Amicable Lift Insurance Company of Texas. The modernization includes four units in the main building and two in the parking garage. TKE will incorporate custom, technology-driven and environmentally friendly features. This includes adding regenerative drives and installing TKE’s cloud-based predictive-maintenance platform MAX. TKE has also assumed the role of elevator maintenance provider at the property, taking over from a previous provider that served it for more than 100 years. In the metropolitan area, TKE has performed work for the City of Waco, McLennan Community College and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
