Maintenance Worker Rescued From Elevator in California

California fire department crews rescued a person stuck in an elevator at a cement plant in the Lebec area on Monday while performing maintenance on it, Bakersfield Now reports. On January 21, there were reports of a person trapped in an elevator. The worker was found on top of an elevator, 20 ft above the ground; the worker sustained shoulder and head injuries while performing routine work on the unit. Officials said the metal siding around the elevator had to be dismantled to gain access to the worker, who was put into a rescue stretcher, lowered safely to the ground and taken to a local hospital. Officials said the cause of the incident was malfunctioning equipment.
