An eight-story apartment complex at 2000 University Avenue in Berkeley, California, has topped out, SF YIMBY reports. The development, named Studio 2000, will contain 82 new studio apartments and be served by TK Elevator vertical-transportation equipment. Located in the heart of the city, near Shattuck Avenue and the Bay Area Rapid Transit line, the property is owned by Read Investments. Trachtenberg Architects is the project architect, and WEST Builders is the general contractor. In addition to housing, the development includes 1,415 ft2 of retail space and parking for 40 bicycles. No vehicle parking is available, due to downtown zoning. The apartments are expected to receive LEED Gold Certification and open by early 2023.
