28-Story Residential Tower Envisioned in North Sydney

Tower for North Sydney inspired by “the character of a freshwater gully stream eroding its way through this place of ceremony”; rendering by FJMT Studio

Views of Sydney Harbour and proximity to the Victoria Cross Metro Station are among the selling points for an AUD700-million (US$476.8 million), 28-story residential tower envisioned by developer Cbus Property at 173-179 Walker Street in North Sydney, The Urban Developer reports. With numerous new towers approved and under construction, North Sydney is widely regarded as Sydney’s new CBD. Designed by FJMT Studio, Cbus Property’s plan includes 189 residences of various sizes, a parking facility with 228 spaces and amenities such as a pool, a sundeck, a barbecue area and a gym. Including a podium and with a profile that is narrow at the bottom and larger at the top, the tower’s massing, according to FJMT Design Director Richard Francis Jones, was inspired by “the character of a freshwater gulley stream eroding its way through this place of ceremony” and is configured to maximize views and natural light.
