Thirty-six new vertical-transportation (VT) units — 24 elevators and 12 escalators — are part of a US$700-million renovation of Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium in State College, Pennsylvania, according to the Penn State Board of Trustees. WNEP is among outlets to report that the board had approved the entire three-year, multimillion-dollar project on May 21. The installation of new escalators was part of an initial project phase approved earlier this year that also includes widening of concourses, new field lighting and video board replacements. Scheduled for completion before the 2027 college football season, the project will be funded by fundraising, concessions, naming opportunities, sponsorships and ticket sales. No education budget or tuition funds will be used.
