TK Elevator (TKE) will provide 57 high-performance, sustainable elevators and escalators to Frankfurt, Germany’s FOUR, a mixed-use development that includes four 233-, 173-, 120- and 100-m-tall towers connected at the base by a multistory plinth. Designed by Ben van Berke of UNStudio and developed by Groß & Partner, FOUR will be served by four escalators and 53 elevators, many of which are part of TKE’s momentum traction-elevator series combining high performance, ride quality and energy efficiency. The units will be connected to TKE’s MAX predictive-maintenance solution. Several other TKE products played a role in FOUR’s design. Space-saving TWIN elevators customized for the 233-m-tall tower reduces the required number of shafts, enabling a smaller building core. Due to two cars operating on top of one another in the same shaft, TWIN offers shorter wait times. A large number of the 53 elevators in FOUR will be equipped with the intelligent dispatching AGILE software system. “In addition, two foyer entrances arranged one above the other on separate floors — still a novelty in Germany — are connected by two elegant velino escalators that can accommodate up to 3,000 passenger per hour,” TKE said.
