AKE Welcomes Hughes as U.K. Country Manager

AKE Aufzüge & Fahrtreppen GmbH, headquartered in Baesweiler, Germany, recently announced it has named Gareth Hughes as U.K. country manager. Hughes joins AKE from Orton Lifts & Escalators, where he was director of the escalator division. Prior to that, he was head of operations in the U.K. for WeMaintain. He has more than 23 years’ vertical-transportation industry experience, starting with Otis as a test engineer for the London Underground, a position he held for more than 12 years. He also held various roles with Schindler, including technical manager for escalators and infrastructure for the U.K. and Ireland, director of new installations and modernizations, and director of existing installations.
