Officials with the Huntsville International Airport in Huntsville, Alabama, are planning site improvements led mainly by enhancing Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance with upgrades that include new elevators and escalators, WAFF48 reports, adding that the money to upgrade the facility would be approved through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The airport has submitted an application but tells ELEVATOR WORLD it does not yet know how much money will be received or when. Although many travelers would love to see more restaurants and concessions at the airport, officials said airport leaders are first focusing on projects that ensure ADA guidelines are met. Accordingly, any money received would go toward new bathrooms, elevators, escalators and seating. Officials noted that the plan “might not be as exciting” as new restaurants and concessions, but new equipment would improve the passenger experience inside the airport.
