The mother of a 1-year-old said her daughter is “lucky to be alive” after the pram she was in plunged down an escalator at a shopping center in Manchester, U.K., on December 9, BirminghamLive is among outlets to report. The baby’s 28-year-old mother told The Manchester Evening News that she decided to use the escalator since several people were waiting in line for the lift. Approximately three-fourths of the way up the escalator, the mother lost grip of the pram and it “did at least three somersaults to the bottom” as horrified shoppers looked on. After being attended to by paramedics on-site, the child was treated for minor injuries to her face and head at a local hospital.
