Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has revealed the design of Park Rise residences, a new development in the Little Athens neighborhood of Ellinikon, Greece, featuring modern homes, greenspace, retail, office and hospitality, ArchDaily reports. The Ellinikon is an ambitious urban regeneration project — and Europe’s largest — that reimagines the grounds of Athens’ old international airport and transforms it into a 6.2 million-m2 smart city. Placed in a central location in Little Athens, which aims to bring more than 1,100 residences to the area, BIG’s Park Rise will feature 88 residential units of varying sizes, from one to five-bedroom homes. The project’s curved concave façade is obtained by varying the height of the building’s five cores. Local and natural materials will be used to create a sense of serenity and comfort. The entire project aims to be self-sufficient in irrigation and electricity needs and integrates energy conservation strategies and emission-reducing systems.
