Boston City Councilor Addresses BHA Elevator Issues

Boston City Councilor Ed Flynn recently filed a hearing order to discuss the current status of the elevator systems across Boston Housing Authority (BHA) developments, the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge reports. The elevator systems in many of these developments are aging, and frequent breakdowns are reported. These breakdowns have negatively impacted the quality of life and raised public safety concerns for many residents. Tenants have complained of getting stuck in elevators, elevators skipping floors and elevator repair parts taking a long time to arrive, resulting in some residents not being able to leave apartments, missing medical appointments and not being able to pick up groceries. The hearing will seek to address the safety and reliability of these elevator systems and discuss a financial and maintenance plan.
