Boy Dies in Elevator Shaft Fall in India

A 13-year-old boy died in early May after trying to exit a stalled elevator in a Kalyan, India, building and falling into the lift shaft, the Hindustan Times reports. The boy’s father irons clothes for a living in another building in the same locality. Since the boy was on summer vacation, he was helping his father in his work and delivering ironed clothes to patrons. According to the police, the boy entered the lift alone on the ground floor before it got stuck between the fifth and sixth floors. He then opened the grill door and tried to open the external wooden door but fell down the shaft. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been lodged at Khadakpada police station.
