A child wearing a popular brand of rubber clogs found the tip of one of the shoes ripped off as a result of his foot becoming stuck at the edge of a moving escalator, Hong Kong-based The Standard reported on September 30. The source said the “netizen” who posted a picture of the destroyed clog on Facebook reminded people to “pay attention when wearing similar shoes.” However, others observed that shoes are not the problem: Children should be reminded to not stand too close to an escalator’s edge, regardless of footwear. “Whatever kind of shoes will be [ripped apart] if caught in the escalator, unless you are wearing industrial shoes with a steel toe,” one respondent said.
