California Park Gets Elevator For Accessibility

School Park Preserve in downtown Auburn, California, is receiving some updates, including an elevator, which will be used to help people reach the top of the park where the pickleball court is, FOX 40 reports. The court is not accessible due to the uphill terrain of the park. The city looked at installing a ramp at the park, but ultimately decided on a lift as the safest option. The cost of refurbishing the court and installing the lift came with a price tag of around US$200,000. The city, Auburn Area Recreation and Parks District, the Skyview Foundation and the Rotary Club of Auburn joined forces to make the Americans with Disabilities Act improvements. The lift is still under construction, but the city plans to hold a ribbon cutting in November.
