A woman in Stuttgart, Germany, plunged her car 35 ft down an elevator shaft after mistaking it for a parking spot on October 8, International Business Times reports. The 38-year-old unnamed driver, who was searching for a parking space for her Smart car, rammed the elevator door and it burst open, sending her vehicle down the shaft, the source reports. The car landed upside down at the bottom of the shaft. The woman survived and was hoisted to safety after two firefighters descended the shaft and strapped her to a stretcher to lift her out. She was given first aid and went to the hospital. The elevator was taken out of service following the incident and fire crews blocked its doors with wooden planks.
