Approximately US$267,000 in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds are going toward new elevators at the Allen County Justice Center in the Lima, Ohio, jail, Your Hometown Stations reports. Another US$250,000 is coming from the state. Used to transport inmates and corrections officers, the elevators are original to the building and more than 30 years old. Thus far, according to Allen County Commissioner Brian Winegardner, the county has “been putting a Band-Aid on them.” The elevators will be replaced one at a time, with work scheduled for completion by late 2021 or early 2022.
