CECA Reaches Out to Members in Light of Tariff Uncertainty

The Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) is reaching out to members regarding the uncertainty of possible future tariffs, encouraging them to review existing and new business contracts to ensure they include applicable provisions. One suggestion is to include provisions for price adjustments due to changes in taxes and customs duties; another is to decrease the timeframe for which quotes are valid. CECA Executive Director Catharine Bothwell shared links about preparing for potential tariffs from the Canadian Construction Association and the Business Development Bank of Canada. In addition, she said, CECA President Don Sanchez will be sending a letter to government officials stressing the negative effects tariffs will create for the construction industry both in Canada and for businesses on both sides of the border.
