CECA Reports On Updates To MCP

The Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) has updated its Maintenance Control Program (MCP), and is urging members to sign into the CECA Member Area and MCP Library. Under the CECA MCP Guidelines and Procedures tab, site visitors will find the MCPs for the 2013, 2016 and 2019 codes. CECA is raising several points regarding the MCPs. Among them:

  • The CECA MCPs are only for use by CECA members (or by paid subscription). While input for the initial MCP was received from the Ontario Technical Standards and Safety Act (TSSA), the CECA MCP Committee has since been solely responsible for any updates. Authorized users are asked not to share the MCP outside their own companies.
  • In respect to the work it has done on the MCP, CECA asks that all users retain the CECA logo on the documentation and abide by CECA’S Terms of Agreement. Authorized users may add their own logos.
  • A chart that outlines which code applies to each province or territory is available here. Users may follow a newer code but should note some provinces have additional requirements that go beyond the code that may not be reflected in the newer MCP.
  • Note, 2013 codes were made to the TSSA requirements and continue to reference the TSSA requirements that differ or go beyond the code.

Specific changes to the 2016 and 2019 codes are explained on the CECA website.
