Chicago’s David Rubenstein Forum is CTBUH Best Tall Building
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) announced on November 16 the annual award for Best Tall Building Worldwide: David Rubenstein Forum at the University of Chicago. Winners were also announced in five regional categories, five height categories, various use categories and more. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the 10-story David Rubenstein Forum is LEED Gold-certified and boasts a “design of stacked and rotated neighborhoods.” Environmentally friendly features include a bird-safe glass façade, green roofs, rain gardens and landscaping with local flora. The tower also took the Best Tall Building Americas and Best Tall Building Under 100 M categories. Several cities had numerous honorees. In Melbourne, Australia, Collins Arch was named the Best Tall Building Australia, Olderfleet the Best Tall Building 100-199 M, Wesley Place received the Urban Habitat, District/Master Plan Scale award and 55 Southbank, the Renovation Award. London winners included One Crown Place South, named Best Tall Building, Europe; and Ten Degrees Croydon, which received the Structural Engineering Award. In NYC, One Vanderbilt received the 400 M and Above Award and 111 West 57th Street the Best Tall Residential or Hotel Building Award. In Tel Aviv, Israel, Azrieli Town Tower was named the Best Tall Building Middle East & Africa, and the Façade Engineering Award went to Arlozorv 17.
