“Cities in the Sky” Book Launch Reception on May 15 in NYC

A book launch reception is planned for May 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Rizzoli Book Store at 1133 Broadway between 25th and 26th streets in Manhattan, NYC, for “Cities in the Sky: The Quest to Build the World’s Tallest Skyscrapers” by Rutgers professor Jason M. Barr. Co-sponsored by the NYC chapter of the Land Economics Society, of which Barr is chapter vice president, the reception will include refreshments and an interview with Barr conducted by Wall Street Journal writer Konrad Putzier. The book takes the reader on a tour of the world’s great cities — Chicago, New York, London and Hong Kong to name a few — to see why they are building their skyscrapers and skylines. Along the way, it busts myths and dispels misconceptions about tall buildings and dives into the reasons the world’s tallest buildings are getting taller and taller. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by May 10.
