Developers Brookfield Properties and WatermanClark are ready to launch work on the redevelopment of the Lever House, a landmark office tower at 390 Park Avenue in NYC, The Real Deal reports. The developers have reported the beginning of a US$100-million redevelopment that aims, among other things, to improve the ground-level public plaza, lobby and third-floor roof terraces. The Lever House project is the latest of a number of office redevelopments in the city. Tenants have been looking for quality office projects to lure workers back to their desks, with some having already completed upgrades. For Lever House, projects include the third floor, which will include a tenant club with a lounge, restaurant and conference room. The building that opened in 1952 for Lever Brothers soap company has retained its 70-year-old details and stands to be restored in such places as exterior paving, plastic ceilings, stainless steel columns and more. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the building’s original architects, will lead the design upgrade. Work is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2023.
