Commuters Petition for Elevator at Bronx Station

A resident living near Bronx, New York’s Spuyten Duyvil Metro-North station has created a petition in an attempt to get an elevator at the station or put the idea on the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authorities’ (MTA) radar, The Riverdale Press reports. The Spuyten Duyvil station was constructed in 1983 and, according to the MTA, the current capital program of projects slated through 2024 does not include adding an elevator to that station. The station was reviewed for an elevator 20 years ago, but other repairs were made. MTA says that the station has a ramp on Track 1, meaning it is considered accessible, but this does not reach Track 2 and is hard to get to by walking, according to the source.
