Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) recently sought out contractors for a contract to upgrade the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station expansion, Meed reports. The notice for the design-and-build contract, part of the RTA’s 2018 plan to upgrade four Dubai Metro stations, was issued on January 6 and had a deadline of January 10. The contract covers the lift and station expansion, including replacing the existing pod entrance with a three-story building, which will provide access to the Dubai Mall link bridge at the concourse level and a direct connection to the Rashidya platform. Three new hydraulic lifts and four escalators will also be added to the station, as well as two new hydraulic lifts and escalators added to the Sheikh Zayed roadside extension serving the U.A.E. Exchange platform.
