Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) plans to build a 62-story, US$440-million headquarters (HQ) in the center of the Ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian Monitor reports. Construction of the 197,800-m2 tower is expected to take four years. At 327.5-m tall, the HQ will be the tallest building in Ethiopia, surpassing current tallest building, the 209-m-tall Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. The design phase is expected to conclude in January 2024, at which point EEP will hire the main general contractor. Designed to meet LEED Gold certification and incorporating energy-efficient technology and green spaces, the tower is set to rise on EEP property at Mexico Square.
