Eight Injured in India Hotel Elevator Incident

A lift at a hotel in Nagole, India, collapsed leaving the eight passengers injured, Times of India reported. The victims got into the lift on the fourth floor and were traveling down when the lift went out of control on the second floor and fell to the second cellar. Officials suspect the incident occurred due to a glitch in the lift’s gearbox. Hotel management claimed that the incident occurred due to the weight being beyond the lift’s capacity, even though the elevator can carry 10 persons or 680 kg, according to its specifications. The victims claimed the lift was of poor quality. Those injured were taken to a nearby hospital.
