Elevator/Escalator Consultant Participates in Radio Interview

Robert Cotton, an elevator and escalator expert, consultant and expert witness, has and is participating in a two-part interview with Close Up Radio to talk about his professional expertise, discuss interesting cases and share his journey to success. The first part was broadcast on July 11 with the second part scheduled for July 18. Cotton’s consulting work mainly focuses on faulty equipment that caused injuries or damage due to floods or fire, and in the area of failure analysis, there is a forensic focus on electrical and mechanical failures of elevator and escalator systems. As an expert witness Cotton, can be called upon either for the plaintiff’s or the defendant’s side. He has been deposed more than 80 times and has testified in at least eight jury trials. Cotton hopes to continue to spread awareness that, although not foolproof, elevators are not something to fear and nowadays they must comply with safety codes, laws and be routinely inspected and properly maintained. Cotton has more than 40 years of experience of working in the industry and has performed more than 1,000 inspections in numerous states. He is the owner of an elevator company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
