Elevator Industry’s Energy-Efficiency Solutions Highlighted

Energyworld.com, a division of The Economic Times, on May 10 highlighted the elevator industry’s “innovative solutions” for minimizing energy consumption as concerns over climate change and energy efficiency mount and buildings climb ever higher. Elevators can consume up to 10% of a building’s total energy, with elevator energy consumption becoming “a significant factor in the overall energy management of urban infrastructure,” the source observed. Among ways the elevator industry has addressed this are with regenerative drive systems, destination control systems and a shift toward sustainability in manufacturing materials and processes. The potential for future development in elevator technology is “vast, with emerging fields like AI and machine learning poised to further optimize elevator functionality,” the source stated. “Such technologies could enable elevators to adapt to traffic patterns in real-time, dynamically adjusting their operations to maximize energy efficiency throughout the day.”
