Elevator Shaft Fall Fatal for Contractor in Jersey City

A 44-year-old contractor died as the result of falling nine stories down an elevator shaft at a jobsite in Jersey City, New Jersey, on March 10, news outlets including the Daily Voice report. Police and firefighters responded to the site at 136 Summit Avenue in the Bergen Hill neighborhood and found the man unconscious at approximately 7:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. OSHA is investigating.
