A lane on northbound Broad Street in South Philadelphia will be shut down by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) through spring 2024 to install elevators and perform other upgrades at the Tasker-Morris station on the Broad Street Line, Billy Penn reports. The US$19-million project is part of a US$500-million SEPTA effort to make all stations on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford lines accessible within the next decade. In addition to Tasker-Morris, accessibility upgrades are also budgeted at 10 other Broad Street Line stations, with varying price tags and completion dates. In addition to elevators, improved platforms, new lighting and security cameras are in store for a total of 14 stations on both lines.
