First Of Two Elevators At Miami Tower Repaired

One of two broken elevators at an 18-story Miami apartment building was repaired on November 23, after the two had been broken down for days, NBC6 South Florida reported. The units, which would not work below the tower’s first 10 stories, had made entering and leaving difficult, especially for its elderly and disabled residents. City officials had posted signs warning managers of the Civic Towers on NW 15th Avenue and 18th Street that they must address the concerns by the first week in December, or they could result in a hearing before the city’s unsafe structure panel. One resident, who lived with her grandmother, said she was concerned the older woman “would get sick and I would have to take her to the hospital.” Building owners, in a letter to renters, said the first elevator was back in service, and have the second elevator operating “as soon as possible.”
