Four men leaving a bar in Connaught Place in New Delhi, India, recently were trapped in an elevator for more than an hour, officials of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) told the Hindustan Times. All four were rescued following a “technician’s intervention after a lengthy operation.” The rescue took longer than expected due to the high ceilings of the ground floor of the building, which constricted the space in which fire officials could work. According to officials, the building’s lift, which is about 5 ft by 5 ft, stopped between the ground and first floors due to a technical snag. No police case was registered. The owner of the bar refuted claims that a technician from a nearby hotel arrived for the rescue efforts, saying, rather, it was an engineer from the elevator firm who corrected the issue.
