Vuzix Corp. has announced that elevator manufacturer Fujitec is deploying the Vuzix M400 smart glasses in support of elevator maintenance and training for engineers in Japan, Mugglehead magazine reports. According to Fujitec, elevators are complicated to maintain, and the engineers presently doing the job are older and new technologies may be required to teach the next generation. To combat this, the company implemented several years of proof-of-concept studies using smart glasses and decided they were a suitable solution. The elevator company’s engineers use the smart glasses to provide remote support installation and service work through video calls. This will reduce travel costs and time spent. Also, this variety of remote support could replace the need for on-site safety inspections and management. Vuzix technology includes a visible and adjustable display and is easy to use with a helmet, glasses or working gloves. These elements were among the deciding factors for Fujitec to take on the contract.
