Several passengers were injured when an escalator malfunctioned recently at a train station in Glasgow, Scotland, The Scottish Sun is among outlets to report. Witnesses said the escalator carrying rail passengers to street level started moving backwards quickly, causing a “crush” of toppling riders. Emergency crews were called to Argyle Street station and five people were treated for minor injuries, with four of those being taken to the hospital. ScotRail issued apologies to customers affected by the incident and confirmed a full investigation into the cause has been initiated. All escalators have been turned off pending inspection by Network Rail engineers.
