Hyundai Elevator, South Korea’s largest elevator manufacturer, on November 30 announced the six winners of its elevator design contest, The Korea Herald reports. A total of 347 individuals and teams from six countries — South Korea, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Turkiye — presented their visions for future elevators. Hyundai Elevator presented KRW10 million (US$7,600) to the South Korean winner and KRW5.2 million (US$4,000) to the winners from other countries. Judging committees selected winners based on factors such as design and compatibility with IT technologies. Hyundai Elevator CEO Cho Jae-chun said the contest presents ideas that give the company the momentum to “step up as a major player in the global elevator industry.” ELEVATOR WORLD will report further on the winning entries as details become available.
