Hyundai Elevator Launches “Smart Elevator Idea Contest”

Hyundai Elevator announced on August 23 that it will hold an elevator idea contest, “Think Outside The Box,” in Korea, China, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Türkiye. The competition, promoted by Korea IT Industry & Technology Times, will be held until September 19. The theme for this competition is smart elevators in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. The company created the contest to reflect the opinions and new ideas of users in light of rapidly changing elevator trends, such as IT/robot linkage. Explaining the program, Hyundai Elevator said, “We have adopted the slogan ‘Think Outside The Box’ with our will to explore the possibility of an elevator as a medium that connects space and people beyond a simple box-shaped vertical-transportation means.” The three contest themes are: a smart elevator with new technology applied, a new type of elevator design, and an elevator concept that takes advantage of unique cultural (national) characteristics (limited to overseas competitions). The contests can be entered by individuals or as groups of two. The total prize money is KRW135 million, divided into domestic and overseas categories. Submissions are accepted via email in the form of A3 size (420 x 297 mm) PDF or JPG files.
