In Memoriam: Ernest James Cox

Ernest James “Ernie” Cox, manager of Markham, Canada-based Vertex Industries Inc., passed away in February after a three-year battle with cancer at age 81. He worked up until he was admitted to the hospital on February 5. Cox made many friends during old car gatherings, through the elevator industry, vacationing on Christian Island and attending sporting events with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carol; his daughter, Carrie; grandchildren, Carlie and Carson; and his brother and sisters. A memorial fund to help cover tuition for students of the Elevating Devices Mechanic program at Durham College has been set up in Cox’s name.
