In Memoriam: Irene Zachata

Irene Zachata and Vlad Zachata accept one of Richmond Elevator’s ELLIEs awards.

Irene Zachata of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada-based Richmond Elevator, passed away the weekend of July 4 after spending a wonderful Canada Day with her family, the Canadian Elevator Contractors Association (CECA) announced. Always a big part of the vertical-transportation industry and CECA, Zachata’s survivors include her son, Vlad, and grandsons, Andreas and Antony. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and grandson, Alex. A joint service for Irene and Alex is planned on July 22 at 1 p.m. at the Richmond Funeral Home in B.C. for family and friends. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zachata family and our friends at Richmond Elevator during this time,” CECA Executive Director Catharine Bothwell said.
