In Memoriam: Janet M. Donoghue

The elevator industry mourns the loss of Janet M. Donoghue, who is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward A. Donoghue, a longtime ELEVATOR WORLD collaborator, American Society of Mechanical Engineers A17.1 elevator safety and code expert, author and former administrator of National Elevator Industry, Inc. Janet, of Salem, New York, passed away on March 12 at age 86. After retiring from her position as controller at Westchester Coldprovia, she ran the office and served as secretary/treasurer for Edward A. Donoghue Associates, Inc. code and safety consultants. When her husband was at NEII, she ran its offices and served as bookkeeper. She was a leader in the Town of Salem Planning Board for 30 years and belonged to the Friends of the Bancroft Library. She was past-president of the Fort Salem Theatre Guild. Survivors include her husband, Edward; son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law, Mary; two grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters. Services will be held privately.
